Beliefs are truths supported by personal, subjective evidence.  But to the belief-holder, they are truth. Challenging someone’s belief is therefore challenging their truth, leading to unwanted interpersonal conflict.

 

This isn't about changing minds but opening them. We teach teams how to find and present alternative evidence, allowing the belief-holder to challenge their own beliefs, taking teammates from potential combatants to sources of wisdom.

High status groups have high standards. Helping people challenge their limiting self-beliefs makes achieving those standards seem possible. But neither happens if we don’t care enough about each other to point out when someone has fallen below a standard.
